The Association of Tourist Farms of Slovenia The Association of Tourist Farms of Slovenia was established in the end of 1997. It is organized in accordance with the Associations Act, and as a regional tourist organization it unites 390 tourist farms across Slovenia. The Association’s members offer about 2.100 beds and seating for 12.000 guests in dining areas. Since its founding in 1997, the Association has been involved in the joint presentation of tourist farms on the market, the development of tourist offers, providing information and training in tourist services for tourist farm owners and operators, representing its members´ economic and legal interests, etc. During the last 20 years, the activities of the promotion network have significantly influenced the creation of a greater awareness regarding what tourist farms have to offer, improved their position among consumers, and fostered better knowledge and a higher opinion of Slovene tourist farms, thus ensuring at least a 110% increase in the occupation of available capacities compared to 1997. Since its very beginning, the Association has worked closely with the Slovenian Tourist Board, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Food, the Ministry of the Economy, the Regional Agriculture and Forestry Institutes, which are part of the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry of Slovenia, and various educational institutions. Together with the development of rural tourist products, well-planned marketing communication on domestic and foreign markets (in cooperation with the Slovenian Tourist Board and other strategic partners), and by raising the quality of tourist services, the Association is hoping to increase the occupancy of available capacities over the next five years to 120 days per year, thus contributing to higher incomes from tourism for farmers, to creating more jobs on farms, and, last but not least, to the preservation of the population and cultural landscape of Slovenia’s rural areas.
